Title: 1 IMPACT OF GSM USAGE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA POPULACE: (A CASE STUDY OF BOSSO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NIGER STATE)

Abstract: The study was designed to examine the impact of GSM usage on the development of Nigeria populace (a case study of Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State). The selected villages are Jikuchi, Pyata, Gurara, Gidan Mangoro and Gidan Kwano. The populations consist of 310 people. Questionnaire was the only data collection instrument. Out of 310 copies of questionnaire administered, 300 (96%) copies were retrieved. The majority of respondents indicated that GSM play major role in the communication and job creation. The constraints in the use of GSM include increase crime rate, financial issue, GSM theft and religious beliefs. The study recommends that emphasis should be placed on the communication and creation of more job opportunities to enhance the business of GSM. There should be societal re-orientation on the modern communication system.
