Title: FACTORS AFFECTING EXTENSION SERVICE DELIVERY IN OKENE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KOGI STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract: This work examined the factors affecting effective extension service delivery in Kogi State. The local government area was selected purposively due to high number of farmers and extension agents in the local government. Data were collected through the use of well structured questionnaire. Sixty to farmers and thirty others to staff of Kogi state Agricultural Development Programme (KSADP). The data were analyzed with the use of descriptive statistic such as frequency. distribution, percentages, central tendency and regression analysis. Result from the analysis show that majority of the respondents (85.0%) are male. 50.8% were full time farmers, the commonest extension teaching method used by the extension agents were General meeting and Contact farmers while 68.3% of farmers received ex.tension contact fortnightly. Further more age, education and number of visit had relationship with the impact of extension service delivery. The factors that significantly influence effective extension service delivery in the study area included mobility, marital status, Age, working experience and teaching methods used by the extension agents.
