Title: | EVAPOTRANSPIRATION OF SELECTED CEREALS IN NIGER STATE |
Authors: | MOHAMMED, B . |
Issue Date: | Apr-1994 |
Abstract: | This Project work presents the determination of evapotranspiration
for wheat, maize, sorghum and millet in Niger State. Based on
grass reference evapotranspiration ETo, with the FAO Irrigation
and Drainage Paper - 24 proceedure and crop coefficients eKc) ,
using measured data from meteorological station for a period of
15 years, and local information on the crops considered.
From the statistical analysis carried out and the data requirements
of the various models used, the modified Penman method was adopted,
Kc curves for each of the crops were developed. Evapotranspiration
and crop water requirement at various stages of growth for the crops
were determined. A computer programme for determining ETo was also
developed.
The Kc curves and the crop evapotranspiration determined can be
recommended for use in water management decisions throughout the
State. |
