|Title: ||WAX TREATMENT IN CRUDE OIL|
|Authors: ||VICTOR, CHIMEZIE NWEBO|
|Issue Date: ||Oct-2006|
|Abstract: ||The Rheological properties (viscosity and PH) analysis was conducted on crude
samples treated with xylene, n- hexane and Trimethylamine and a blend of
Trimethylamine -I-Hexane and Trimethylamine + Xylene at different % coJ1centration.
At the end of the analysis, the result show a progressive decrease in Viscosity at an .
increased concentration of n-hexane from 0.25% to 0.75% concentration and continues
reduction of viscosity when concentration of trimethJariine is increased and an increase in
the PH value of the sample. The acidity of any crucle sample gives affinity for wax -to
deposition in crude oil.
The results obtained from this research has shown that, n-Hexane arid trimethylamine
can be used as flow improver in the transportation of crude oil through pipeline with
0.75% concentration of n-hexane as the" , preferred due to its ability to reduce the
viscosity of the sample at low concentration.|
