Title: KINETIC STUDY OF ADSORPTION OF SOME CATIONS ON MINIINESE (IV) OXIDE

Abstract: The kinetic study of adsorption of Zinc and Lead cations on manganese (iv) oxide was performed using the graphical and differential method of analyzing a rate-equation. At a higher concentration of about 0.023molldm3 and cation concentration of 1.0mol/dm3 the rate of disappearance of manganese (iv) oxide is high with value of 5.750 mol/dm3 min but at same concentration of cations and lower concentration of the depolarizer the rate decreases rapidly. The rate of disappearance of manganese IV oxide for both overall cell reaction without cations and with cations is derived to be - rA= 7.2464CA 2 and -rA=10.869 x 103 CA2 Co with CA and Co as concentration of the depolarizer and cations respectively. The order of overall cell reaction without the cation is second order and with the cations to be third order overall.
