Title: l\iODIFICATION OF DUAL PURPOSE KEROSENE (DPK) TO JET FUEL (JP1A)

Abstract: Jet fuel was produced by blending operation involving three components Light naptha, white spirit, dual purpose kerosene. and a catalyst (Iso propylic alcohol), otherwise known anti-freezing agent. The method emploY,ed was the batch blending operation involving the mixing of the components, pre-heating, super-heading at a temperature of exactly 288°C by means of an induction furnace. However, the first run involved 22ml of light naptha, 75ml of white spirit,200ml of kerosene, 40ml of Isopropylic alcohol, a temperature of 288°C and a time of exactly 2 hours. For the second run the values of all the components involved were held constant and the reaction time doubled, this helps in ascertaining the effect of time. The third run gave appreciable characteristics by holding all volumes constant and increasing the reaction time also, the fouth run and the final run gave characteristiC values equal to that of jet fuel (JPIA) at a duration of exactly 5 hours.
