Title: PRODUCTION OF CAUSTIC POTASH FROM COCOA POD HUSK

Abstract: ABSTRACT The production of caustic potash from cocoa pod husk (c. p. h.) and the percentage yield from a constant weidht input was investigated. Batch method was used and the results obta-ined indicated that the percentage yield of caustic potash increases with increase in ashing time. At the ashing time of three hours the average caustic potash yield was found to be between (2.G - S'.i)%· It was also observed that the purity of caustic potash obtained increases with ashing time at constant temperature of 300 o C.
