Abstract: This project work was done to know the technological viability and performance of .. flexible polyurethane foam produced when 10 pbw of polyol is replaced with castor oil. the experiment was performed in a standard laboratory in Mouka Foam Industry Lagos. four major physical properties - density, indentation hardness, tensile strength and compressibility were ~ested and characterized. all the tests proved satisfactory when . compared with those of Nigerian Industrial Standard (NIS). The blending of castor oil into foam formulation is an economic way of producing . " high density soft Foam". From the exothermic reading it was observ~d that the sample with castor oil gave a peak temperature of 87 .3oc while the control sample gave 120oc. this showed that the ricinooleic acid content of castor oil is a heat absorber.
