Abstract: ABSTRACT The project work is centred on the theoretical study of the "Effect of Homogeneous Catalyst On Isopropyl Alcohol Liquid Phase Synthesis" using phosphoric acid (H3P04) as catalyst. the first chapter looks at what the compound Isopropyl Alcohol is all about; its nature, physical and Chemical properties, uses, economic importance, storage and handling and the objectives and scope of work. The second chapter discusses a literature survey of how synthesis of the compound were carried out in the past. In the third chapter, process in homogeneous system, using a catalyst and also catalysis were discussed. Chapter four of this work, describes the process chosen and a description of the process. The fifth chapter discusses on ways to imporove the process rate, and temperature dependence from transition state theory. While in the last chapter, analysis of the work were discussed and a conclusion drawn. This also included the materials and energy balances.
