Title: DEODORIZATION OF KEROSENE USING SAWDUST

Abstract: The present study involves the deodorization of kerosene using sawdust as adsorbent. The adsorbent was developed in the laboratory, using ammonium sulphate as the activating chemical. The sample was carbonized at a temperature of 550°C for sixty minutes, after which water was used to wash as well as to recover the activating chemical, and then it was oven dried for twenty-four hours. The sample was subjected to some physico-chemical analysis namely: pore volume analysis, ash content determination, moisture content determination, volatile content determination, bulk density determination, and surface area determination. The following results were obtained for the deodorized kerosene: a density of 800kg/m 3 , specific gravity of 0.82, flash point of 44°C, smoke point of 21mm
