Title: MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF ACTIV ATED SLUDGE PROCESS (A CASE STUDY OF KADUNA REFINERY AND PETROCHEMICAL COMPANY, KADUNA)

Abstract: This project was carried out to model activated sludge process. In the model development, chemical oxygen demand and biological oxygen demand were taken as the dependent variables while temperature, pH, turbidity, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids and dissolved oxygen were taken as the independent ,(ariables 011 the -- COD and BOD depended. . The results have shown that when the values of experimental COD were 50.00 and 48.00 mg/L, the simulated ones were 50.62 and 48.53 mg/L respectively. Also, when the values of experimental BOD were 6.12 and 6.00 mg/L, the simulated ones were 6.11 and 6.09 mg/L respectively. So) with the percentage errors percentage errors between the experimental results and simulated ones that Were found to be very small and the values of the correlation cocfiicients for the COD and BOD that were calculated to be 0.863918472 and 0.919060852 respectively, the model equations for the COD and BOD systems are go04 . representations of the systems.
