Title: THE KINETICS ANDTHERMOD¥NAMIC INVESTIGATION OF SORPTION PROCE,SS OF VAN,ADIUM BY ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

Abstract: kinetic and thermodynamic investigation of th~ - sorption process of ' anadium by activated charcoal was carried out in three phases. The first phase of the process was the v~r~a~i8n o(,vC;\acd!~,JJ)., ~oncentration at constant temperature and weight of char~8~,tr\;I~Wi~I' '~I'I:~~f~~i~i~~i~n:;of",;':' the order of the reaction with respect to vanadium concentration and this was' found to be first order. The second phase was the vari~tion of the weight of activated charcoal at constant temperature and concentration and the order of reaction will respect to the amount charcoal was also found to be first figures 6 and 7. The third phase was the variation of temperature with a fixed concentration of vanadium and fixed weight of activated charcoal which enable the determination of activation energy (~Ea) of the prpcess. the activation energy was found to be 8.9598 kj/mole. other parameters like heat of reaction, free energy change, rate constants at various temperature were also determination as will be seen in the table of summary of results. _ The ge.neral rate of the sorption process of vanadium by activated charcoal was a found to be = 1.3 866 exp· AE/rt [V] .
